CrossFit Level 2
NFHS High School Boys Lacrosse Official
Having been a multi-sport athlete in high school, I chose to pursue football once I got to college. The need to add weight to play and the "joys" of college life resulted in me leaving college significantly overweight and without a plan to fix it. Basketball had always been my first love, and when I got out of school I played a lot. 4 or 5 days a week was normal, and I never considered the ramifications of the pounding on my joints and the potential long-term effects. Then I hit my 40s, and the years of being an overweight hoopster resulted in constant and debilitating pain that affected every aspect of my life.
I had to give up basketball, and trust me I tried every way to stay fit and fill the void left behind. Luckily my daughter found CrossFit and loved it. If you ever want to hear the story of my start in CrossFit I am happy to share it, but suffice it to say that I started 10 years ago, and it quite simply changed my life. Not only did it provide a platform for me to get fit, but it also scratched the itch I felt to compete, even if it was just with myself. Add to that the camaraderie I felt and the friends that have become like family, and I cannot wait to get to the gym every day.
Getting better at anything is hard! After all, if it was easy, it was probably not worth doing anyway! In my experience, when you are surrounded by people who believe in you, who understand what your goals are and who support you in achieving them, you can do almost anything. I commit to not just celebrating your success, but also putting in the work to help you along the way. Together we will get you where you want to go. That is the place, the community I want Brickyard CrossFit to be.
